House warming

The New Year starts tomorrow. My Danish friend said that their custom is to jump off of something into the New Year at midnight. This seemed like a good custom to adopt, so I usually choose a chair. I'd also like to heat up the sauna, and maybe make a snowball lantern, with a candle in the yard in front of the sauna.

Otherwise, I've been chopping and piecing wool remnants and leftover handwoven pieces
into house potholders, and house pillows. I've been making them up as I go, and I think I'm not done yet. The yellow house pillow is filled with organic buckwheat hulls, and can be heated in the microwave for a few minutes to make a delightful warm addition under the covers, or to warm cold hands. Still, the days after Christmas are always a bit of a let down. Maybe we'll have to put some newspaper shoes on Mama Kitty, which is always a funny thing to do, and will cheer us up.

What a sweet pillow that is! You have been piecing houses since I can remember. It seems like every other quilt that quilt club made was a house quilt.
Now get to putting those shoes on the cat, and be careful jumping off of that chair. I'll do the same.

Just don't try to pet her while she's wearing the shoes! She'd probably have a nervous breakdown.

I am definitely not to the point where I can cut up my woven fabric! These are so nice :)

Urs: housemaking and keeping has occupied a lot of my time and energy, definitely. Remember my house salt & peppers?
Sof: she's already crazy, probably from too many pairs of newspaper shoes
Brit: Keep weaving and you'll have lots of things you decide to cut up, or burn, or bury.

Lucky us! You are back at the postcards! From my perch on the Middle Branch River in mid Michigan, I relish reading your bits and pieces. Happy chair jumping. Cindy (the Avalanche camper/visitor/affectionado)
