Rags and Mushrooms

Look what popped up under the spruce tree this week.  Could I eat them?  Or, dye with them?  Probably both, eat and die.

I'm weaving my favorites again,  a little bit of rag, a little bit of linen,  leaving the edges raw. They are  a set of cushion covers I'm designing for modern concrete benches.   Good textures to combine, smooth polished concrete, with rags and linen.

These are wonderful photos,as always! (Where are the trolls??) The weaving is gorgeous. Is it meant to be a rug or a table runner? (I can't quite determine the weight of it.) Thanks for the post....Gloria

Love these, both the mushrooms and of course, your weaving. The colors on the mushrooms must be so inspiring! I hope you post some pictures of the cushions once they're installed on the benches. I bet it will look fantastic.

Gloria, Trolls? Under the bridge, of course.
the rag weave is a cushion cover. A piece of 1" dense foam will be inside of 2 panels. Not rug weight. I'd make bags or pillows out of this

Jude, I'm anxious to see what comes out of your looms!

Kathryn, The mushrooms and golden pine needles were very similar to what I happened to be weaving. I always cross my fingers about what will look fantastic. Thanks for your vote of confidence.

Ah, you have given me inspiration...my poor looms have sat fallow for so long and somehow I've accumulated this HUGE stash of gorgeous fabric...and we won't even discuss the walk-in closet full of undyed yarn from HENRY... about a month ago I ordered a couple of books on rag weaving, hoping to cull some of the fabs down - hmmm that would be about a month ago - my speed at getting to things is amazing-NOT, but seeing your work via Jude's blog is motivating - love those toadstool pictures, especially the ones tinged with yellow/red...

aka ant!

Fallow looms, huge, gorgeous, fabric collection, walk-in closet of Henry's Attic yarn. There could be an explosion of creativity if you put them all together.

Fasten your seat belt.

The mushroom photos make me feel like I have shrunken down to blueberry size and live inside one of them...happiness. And the juicy colours!
