OK. I'm trying to avoid a political rant here, because, by this time, adding my opinion seems superfluous. This government shutdown is messed up, but I am still here with the heart of an unbeliever, feminist, socialist, hanging on to the hope that we're going to come to our senses, and realize that we do need equality in this old US, and vote for people who will have the common decency to make that happen.
(It was a mushroom fairy ring, in the pines, and there were many more of them).

Amen to that, Susan. Keeping anger, discouragement (and growing fear) at bay is getting more difficult with each passing day. Thank you for the diversion of this post. Each and every image is more beautiful. And the weaving is gorgeous.

And what a beautiful, beautiful series, with or without shutdowns!
Be brave, be bold, be you, we love you for it, you are an inspiration.
We need to elect an equal number of women as men to Congress, to represent women. Sad to say, women, especially, are not being well served by the male dominated legislative bodies. Oh, and the ERA, does anyone else recall that bit of unfinished business? RAnt, rant, rant....
I do agree about you statement.
The fairy ring is magical! I've never seen one.....
I agree that a change is needed (and long over due) in our government..... too many 'good 'ol boys' in there. Like big fat Colorado River Toads gobbling up everything and not caring about their constituents.
More women in office would be nice.... however the system as it stands right now seems to corrupt men and women alike.
Just do so wish there were more grown ups in Washington...Madison...my little town...(and sometimes, in me)!
Julie, haha. Big fat Colorado river toads. Works for me
Cindy, Breathe. Looks like they've cooked a deal. This was just awful.
you're so right...and now there is a reprieve for maybe only a short time. so your photos are a balm. i've seen fairy rings, too. they're very special. are you experiencing back tick infestation this year?
that's BAD tick, not back--
Velma, Bad tick is right. Right here we had a lot in midsummer. Lately the cats have been. Coming in with engorged wood ticks. I haven't seen deer ticks (on me) for a couple of months. I go out in the woods, so I expect to pick them up. Are you seeing lots of them?.
