All Sewed Up

All the panels are woven now.  So, I sewed them. together.  This isn't the bench they'll be used on, but I wanted to see how they'd look.  I'm especially pleased with my sewing.  I'm finally getting the hang of that.

I'm also pleased that these remind me of the rag rug covered sauna benches in the Finnish saunas of Northern Minnesota, that I loved when I was young.  I wanted to weave something with a  Finnish look, that brought back that memory of sauna smoke, lake and northwoods.

It is simply beautiful...too bad that isn't the bench it will be used on. You will just have to make another so your bench (I presume that is your bench) will be so lucky.

Wow, that looks fantastic. I love the rustic look of the bench with the cushion. I'm anxious to see what it looks like with its intended bench! My family is mostly Finnish, in fact it was in Finland that I first tried weaving. :-)

I can imagine these cushions on a modern bench looking quite wonderful too.

Thank all of you for your good feedback. They'll be on exhibit at a furniture fair. I haven't seen the benches, but the design is Scandinavian, contemporary. I hope it is simple and rustic

heavenly, love the transitions of weaving, mixing rag with plain weave, very textural...[note to self: must get my looms warped while inspired...lolol]

So -- mystery solved: the beautiful weavings became a beautiful cushion! I love it on that rustic bench with the corrugated metal and the painted window trim. Perfect photo! Hope we get to see a photo of it on the intended bench. thanks Susan!
