Toast and Coffee
I'm not a morning person, but I am a coffee person. Waiting for the coffee pot to finish its perking, I looked out at the familiar goose lot outside the kitchen window, the sun rising and shining on the creek, the morning mist drifting up in veils. What shall we do, what shall we do with all this useless beauty? (This Elvis Costello refrain is a question I always come back to).
We're ( I should say, Daniel) is making wood for the winter. You see the hose is still not coiled up and stored away, and the chopping block looks good for another season. Those logs look like something beautiful, too. But Useful.

It is strange to see that life goes on, seasons keep changing even when I haven't lived there in years. It looks so pretty with the mist. Wood pile looks good, but I don't miss the need for the fire. Who knows? Maybe we'll all be back (+ some others) under the same roof soon enough!

Not living at home with my parents has, in some ways, put me out of sync with the rhythm of the seasons. My dad is probably buying and chopping wood right about now, too. Beautiful photos!
The seasons are relentless. It's already wood season!
