Satisfaction

I'm still enjoying the honeymoon phase of my repp weave, and since it was so long in the making I'm letting myself enjoy it a little longer than usual. I think I may be getting over it, though. I've sewed on my label, and added a tag. I haven't settled on the price of it, but at this point I think it should cost at least an arm and a leg.

The funny thing is, that this repp weave makes me long to make a new rag weave warp, something in rose path and plain weave, with unruly edges, thready surfaces, and rya knots. When I weave with rag on a plain weave warp, of good Swedish cotton, things happen before my wondering eyes, and more often than not, these are good things. Weaving with rag makes me feel lucky, happy-go-lucky. Weaving with rag is like tasting the grass that really is greener on the other side of the fence.

Speaking of spring weaving, there is a small world wide virtual weave exhibit coming up and you can exhibit there. I've signed up. Created and curated by New Zealand weaver, Meg Nakagawa, of Unravelling Blog fame, it is the 2nd Annual SSVE (Small Scarf Virtual Exhibit) and you still have time to participate. Kindred Thread-ites? River Weaver? Brittany? Make a fine little scarf and add it to the show. Guidelines here.

This turned out so well. You should really be happy! That exhibit sounds like a lot of fun! Do I have to make something specifically for it, or could I use something from last semester? I'm not in weaving right now, so I don't have access to (or time for) weaving really.

Brittany, I think it's just scarfs because they are small & easy to do, and she wants them woven in 2009. Maybe next year for you, if you get back to a loom. ( I hope so!) A world wide virtual exhibit is such a good idea

Dang it! Oh well... The idea is awesome!

There's a loom open at school, so I'll be weaving a bit this semester!! I'm going to focus on fiber studies: fiber content, weave structure, etc. I'm so excited :)

Susan, had a look at the virtual scarf guidelines --
I'm game -- I agree, an awesome idea. I love the
repp, it's turning out gorgeous - inspite of the warp
from hell...

I wish you lived in my town and were my weaving teacher. Congratulations on a beautifully conceived and woven piece.
P.S. The weather would be very different; perhaps to your liking.
